The climate crisis that the world is facing has raised many eyebrows, and many climate-based and science-based organizations have raised their voices to bring this issue to light. Many conferences have been held to address and discuss the climate crisis, increasing greenhouse gasses, and huge carbon footprint resulting in increasing temperature. In December 2015, the Paris Agreement was signed by over 190 countries to work together to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
All the countries agreed to work together to control the rise in Earth’s temperature and limit it below 2 degrees Celsius. One nation alone cannot achieve this target; efforts worldwide will only make a significant difference in decreasing pollution and improving climatic conditions. We need to act fast and control emissions; sadly, we are quite away from the track to achieve this.
The one good effect of the pandemic is that in 2020, the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions dropped down by 7%. This is good news, but at the same time, this decrement will become insignificant if we cannot maintain this decrease for over a decade.
To save this Earth, we all need to put in efforts and help this Earth recover and cut down on emissions, and reduce the carbon footprint on the planet. We can achieve this together by implementing the following strategy:
Avoid other emissions:
What’s done is done; we cannot bring the past or rectify it. What can be done is not to repeat our mistakes and look for ways to avoid further emissions and increase our carbon footprint. Be mindful of whatever we are looking forward to doing, and this way, we can help control the emissions. Work on alternate energy sources, materials, and different products which can be used instead of our regular products.
Reduce existing GHG emissions:
Avoiding our previous mistakes is extremely necessary, but this is not enough. The existing buildup of GHG emissions and carbon footprint is huge and must be dealt with. Implement sustainability plans that can help to cut out the emissions and reduce carbon footprint. Manage waste and work on reforestation and recovery programs to try to bring back what has been lost.
Invest in getting rid of GHG emissions:
Invest in programs that are making efforts to reduce carbon footprint and GHG emissions. Invest in renewable sources of energy that will stop fossil fuel burning and help in the considerable reduction of carbon dioxide emission. Invest in a safe future! What would be better in investing in a safe place to live in?
Go innovative:
Our regular products, developments have failed us. We need to be more innovative now and research and experiment on new materials and products and find out the most eco-friendly products and initiatives that can be adopted. We need to adopt green building strategies and innovative design products to set the future trend and help us achieve the goal.
Conclusion:
The climate crisis is very serious, and immediate actions are necessary to achieve our desired goals. If we all put in our efforts, then together we can build up a better and cleaner Earth to live in.
